TST. Zac Efron Makes 1st Appearance at ‘Dancing With the Stars’ to Support Brother Dylan During Semi-Finals

Zac Efron has finally entered the Dancing With the Stars chat, publicly supporting his younger brother, Dylan Efron, in the season 34 semi-finals.

Zac, 38, shared a message via his Instagram Story ahead of the Tuesday, November 18, episode, encouraging fans to send Dylan, 33, to the finale. “Vote for @dylanefron tonight on DWTS!” Zac wrote. “Text ‘Dylan’ to 21523 ten times.”

The Hairspray star was spotted in the audience on Tuesday for the first time since the season began, sitting with their little sister, Olivia, on his lap.

Like their fellow semi-finalists, Dylan and his partner, Daniella Karagach, were bringing two dances to the ballroom floor in honor of Prince Night. The twosome were set to perform a tango to “I Would Die 4 U” and a cha-cha to “Kiss.”

“I’m a slow learner, but we’ve really worked hard to get here,” Dylan said in a rehearsal package played before their first dance of the night, noting that he wanted to “surpass” his performance from the week before.

When Dylan was revealed as one of the season 34 cast members in September, fans were quick to wonder whether he’d get any advice from his older brother, who made a name for himself in the High School Musical franchise and has a dance background.

Dylan exclusively told Us Weekly at the time that his entire family would be cheering him on throughout the experience.

“My dad is super excited,” he said before the season began. “He has little kids, [ages] 4 and 5. They’re all super excited. My mom was honestly just shocked. She’s just like, ‘Where’d this come from?’ My brother is supportive.”

Dylan recalled when Zac attended a live taping of DWTS several years prior. “He’s like, ‘The best part is going to be those live shows,’” he told Us. “He was saying, like, it’s such a good feeling.”

As the competition heated up, however, Zac was noticeably absent from the ballroom audience. Dylan opened up to Extra in October about feeling his brother’s support from afar.

“Hey, he’s doing his thing,” Dylan said at the time, noting that Zac is “supporting me every day” despite not being there in person.

The Traitors alum has spoken candidly about his close bond with Zac through the years, even using his song “Rewrite the Stars” from The Greatest Showman for his and Karagach’s Dedication Night performance last month. Dylan’s little sister, Olivia, joined him on stage as a special guest.

“I wasn’t expecting to be a big brother … but immediately, I was inseparable from her,” Dylan said in footage from rehearsal, adding that the song choice was “a nod” to his older sibling. “Zac’s always taken care of me and he did things that were so selfless. I wanna be that to Olivia, I wanna be the best role model I can.”

Dancing With the Stars airs on ABC and Disney+ Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET, with new episodes streaming the next day on Hulu.
