The newly crowned Miss Universe sparked a mass walkout from the competition in a moment described as ‘the most empowering act in the pageant’s history.’

Victoria Theilvig, the first Danish contestant to win the top title, stormed out during the sashing ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand.

It came in solidarity with Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, who was escorted out by security for not showing executive director Nawat Itsaragrisi ‘enough respect’.

In the video, the boss can be heard saying: ‘Mexico where are you?

‘I heard you’re not going to post everything about everything in Thailand…’, seemingly referring to the request for contestants to post promotional stories about the competition on their social media.

When Bosch, 26, responded, the boss tried to silence her, demanding: ‘I’m still talking, listen.’

She then defended herself, saying: ‘I have a voice. You’re not respecting me as a woman.’
