If there’s a team on a hot streak that no one wants to face right now, it’s the Dallas Cowboys, who have collected three straight wins – including victories over the last two Super Bowl champions: a spectacular comeback against the Philadelphia Eagles and a dominant Thanksgiving Day win over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Cowboys iconic wide receiver goes back to Dallas and meets up with Prescott

The playoffs are still not guaranteed for the Cowboys, but the important thing is that they haven’t fallen off track. They are two games behind the Philadelphia Eagles for the NFC East lead, and also two games away from fighting for a Wild Card spot in the NFC, which currently belongs to the Seahawks, Packers, and 49ers.

Next Thursday, they have a crucial matchup against a direct Wild Card rival: the Detroit Lions, on the road. It’s a game the Dak Prescott-led Cowboys simply cannot lose. If they survive Detroit, the schedule becomes more manageable, closing the season against the Vikings, Chargers, Commanders, and Giants – with the Chargers being the toughest matchup.

CeeDee Lamb had a great game against the Kansas City Chiefs

There’s no doubt CeeDee Lamb has had an up-and-down season and has been criticized for his mistakes, especially considering he’s one of the best receivers in the NFL. In Week 12 against the Eagles, Lamb had several drops, and across both matchups against Philadelphia this season he totaled seven. However, he bounced back strongly against the Chiefs – and especially important since he signed a four-year, $136 million contract in 2024.

Against Kansas City, Lamb led the Cowboys’ aerial attack with seven catches for 112 yards and a touchdown. After the game, he delivered a strong message to the rest of the league: “This game isn’t the only one I’m going to do this in,” Lamb told reporters, via DallasCowboys.com. “I can promise you that. So do what you want with that info.”

It’s clear one of the reasons Lamb has faced criticism is because George Pickens has had a spectacular season with the Cowboys. This year he has already surpassed 1,000 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, so Lamb’s performance has been constantly compared to Pickens’, who is seeking a new deal.

“It’s a team achievement and, overall, for me, it just feels good to be back on the right track,” Lamb said. “That’s how it goes. Nobody can really guard me. It was just me dropping the ball, and I don’t do that often, so it was just a series of events. It was a great experience for me.”

CeeDee Lamb has 744 yards and three touchdowns this season. Beyond the comparisons between Lamb and Pickens, what’s clear is that Dak Prescott has learned how to utilize both, and the Cowboys’ offense is becoming increasingly dangerous. If they manage to win in Detroit next week, that path could take them to the playoffs – and given the Eagles’ struggles, they could even grab the NFC East crown.
