SD. Rory Feek poured his heart into one of his most emotional performances, honoring his late wife Joey. “Getting over the loss of a beloved loved one is never easy. Sometimes the grief will sneak up and overcome you when you least expect it,” he wrote. He admitted that, even years later, “in my heart, it still felt like yesterday.” Looking back, he realized the lyrics of that song would resonate in ways he never imagined, hitting him with a depth that left him—and everyone watching—completely moved.

Rory Feek’s Heartfelt Tribute: The Story Behind “Me & The Blues”

On Tuesday, August 19, country artist Rory Feek shared a deeply emotional clip from the music video for his song “Me & The Blues.” Though the video and song were originally released a few years ago, their message still resonates powerfully today.

“Me & The Blues,” featuring country legend Vince Gill, was first released in 2021 on Rory’s solo album Gentle Man. Despite the passage of time, the song continues to hold a special place in Rory’s heart, as it serves as a tribute to his late wife, Joey Feek.

A Song of Love and Loss

Joey Feek passed away in 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. She and Rory were married for nearly 15 years and shared a deep bond both in life and through their music as the beloved duo Joey + Rory. Together, they had one daughter, Indiana, who is now almost 11 years old.

The Emotional Video Clip

Along with re-releasing the video, Rory shared a touching caption that gave fans more insight into the meaning behind the song. The clip captures one of the most emotional moments he has ever filmed — Rory sitting quietly, reading a Valentine’s Day card and breaking down in tears. The card was the final handwritten note Joey gave him before her passing.

“Getting over the loss of a loved one is never easy. Sometimes the grief sneaks up and overwhelms you when you least expect it,” Rory wrote. He reflected that even though the scene was filmed five years after Joey’s death, “in my heart, it still felt like yesterday.”

Interestingly, Rory revealed that “Me & The Blues” wasn’t originally written in memory of Joey. He had penned the song two decades earlier, around the time he first left Nashville. “I, of course, had no idea at the time that the lyrics would one day take on such a deeply personal meaning,” he explained.

Rory Feek’s Life Today

Nearly eight years after Joey’s passing, Rory has found peace and love once again. He recently remarried, and he and his new wife, Rebecca, celebrated their first wedding anniversary in July of this year.

The couple lives on a beautiful farm in Tennessee, where they raise Indiana and run a small community schoolhouse. There, they homeschool Indiana, who recently began the sixth grade. The family’s quiet, country lifestyle reflects the simple, heartfelt values that Rory and Joey always cherished.

Rory continues his work in music, performing at select events and even hosting intimate concerts on his Tennessee property. His music remains deeply personal, often blending themes of love, loss, and faith — values that have defined his life and artistry.
