Cristiano Ronaldo is making a bold statement about his worldwide status.

The Portuguese soccer star, 40, claimed that he’s “nobody’s more famous” than him when speaking with Piers Morgan in a tell-all interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored released on Thursday, Nov. 6.

The conversation arose when Ronaldo and the talk show host were discussing Donald Trump, after European council president Antonio Costa gifted Trump with a Portugal shirt signed by Ronaldo during the Group Seven summit in Canada in June.

“You’re the two most famous people on the planet,” Morgan told Ronaldo, noting that the athlete is the most followed person on Instagram with over 650 million followers, compared to Trump’s 38 million.Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo then posed the question, “We’ll do a debate for the world: Who is more famous, me or Donald Trump, in the world?”

“What do you think?” Morgan quipped back, to which the four-time FIFA Club World Cup winner replied, “Me.”

Ronaldo then argued his case, saying, “I think worldwide, even in the small islands, they know me more than him… I think in the world, nobody’s more famous than me.” He challenged, “Tell me one. Tell me one!”

Morgan said “it’s a very interesting debate” when thinking about Ronaldo and Trump’s fame levels, and then named three people from his lifetime who he thinks would rank higher if they were still alive: Princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth and Nelson Mandela.Cristiano Ronaldo and his fiancée Georgina Rodriguez.

“But I think right now, it’s you and Donald Trump,” he added.

Ronaldo echoed, “It’s a good debate.”

The soccer star then opened up about his fame, and how he can’t go anywhere without being recognized.

“Do you like that?” asked Morgan, to which Ronaldo replied without hesitation, “No. It is what it is.”

“It’s boring. Trust me,” he explained. “It’s boring. Yeah, too much… I wish to don’t be so famous. Really, really. It’s boring. Trust me.”

Ronaldo continued, “I never wanted to be famous, ever. I wanted to have success, I knew it since the beginning when I was younger that I will be let’s say a star, but to be so famous I never, never, never wanted it. It’s boring, trust me, but it is what it is.”

Elsewhere in his tell-all interview, Ronaldo discussed his recent proposal to his fiancée, Georgina Rodríguez. The couple announced their engagement in August after eight years of dating.Cristiano Ronaldo of Juventus poses with the Serie A trophy alongside his fiancée, Georgina Rodríguez (left).

The Portuguese player revealed his longtime partner’s unfiltered thoughts about her colossal engagement ring — that’s estimated to cost upwards of $5 million — when speaking with Morgan, recalling the conversation they had when he offered her the sparkler.

“One thing that I love, she didn’t care about the ring,” Ronaldo told Morgan. “She asked me if I was honest and I said, ‘I want you and I want to marry you.’ “

He noted, “I didn’t cry, but I had tears in my eyes.”
