O.J. Simpson’s estate has agreed to pay the family of Ron Goldman $58 million, ABC News has learned.
O.J. Simpson‘s estate has agreed to pay the family of Ron Goldman $58 million, ABC News has learned.
According to court documents, the estate executor has accepted the family’s claim.
The Goldmans originally asked for $117 million. The claim was filed in February 2021.
It’s unclear how much the estate will be able to raise by selling off assets.
Simpson was acquitted of the 1994 murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Goldman, but was found liable in civil court.
The Goldmans apparently only received a fraction of the $33 million judgment they were awarded in the civil trial.
Simpson died in April of last year.
The Goldman family released the following statement:
“The Executor’s acceptance of the claim is a positive acknowledgement of the debt; however, it does not constitute payment. This acceptance simply allows the administration of the claim to move forward in probate. We will continue to monitor the probate process as it progresses.”
