On X, Elon Musk wrote: “She’s not a very smart person (adage: You’re not the sharpest tool in the shed).
The statement is considered a direct response to the singer’s previous statement about him.
The controversy began when Billie Eilish commented on a post by the activist group My Voice, My Choice – which lists a series of humanitarian causes that only a small part of Elon Musk’s assets can create a big impact.
The post by the group My Voice, My Choice said that the Tesla founder is about to become “the first person to reach a trillion dollars”, while many global problems still need huge resources to solve.
The proposals put forward by the activist group include spending about $40 billion a year to end hunger by 2030, or spend more than $2 billion a year to help more than 10,000 animal species escape the risk of extinction.

One side sided with Billie Eilish, saying that she only expressed what many young people were thinking. Many comments wrote: “She dared to say what no one dared to say to billionaires”, “Billie just reiterated the humanitarian issue, there’s nothing wrong with that”.
However, there were also many supporters of Elon Musk. They said that Billie Eilish used too vulgar and disrespectful language and equated being rich with the responsibility of “having to give”.
