Reba McEntire And Rex Linn’s Engagement Was Announced In September

On September 14, 2025, lovebirds Reba McEntire and Rex Linn attended the Primetime Emmy Awards, where McEntire performed a tribute to the Golden Girls with Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman and Karen Fairchild.

On the red carpet, Reba McEntire was joined by her boyfriend of five years, actor Rex Linn. Together, they took part in several red carpet interviews about the evening, their relationship, and the show they star on together, Happy’s Place.

The Emmys also took place a few weeks after Reba McEntire’s stepson, Brandon Blackstock, passed away so she was asked about how the family, including Kelly Clarkson and her kids River and Remington, as well as McEntire’s own son, Shelby, were doing.

In an interview with E!’s Zuri Hall, the reporter revealed Reba and Rex were engaged!

As Reba and Rex approached Hall on the carpet, the reporter said, “Joining me now is one of tonight’s performers, Reba McEntire and her fiancé, Rex Linn!”

Reba and Rex nodded to confirm that Hall’s reporting was correct before telling her how much fun they’re having filming Happy’s Place together.

The engagement news came as a surprise to fans, who were waiting for that perfect social media announcement from the couple. Turns out we won’t be getting that, mainly because they’ve been engaged for much longer than we thought!

How Long Have Reba And Rex Been Engaged?

McEntire graces the cover of November 3rd issue of People Magazine and opens up about her career, her happiness, and how she has no plans of slowing down at 70 years old.

In the cover story, Reba reveals, “I think I’m happier now than I’ve ever been in my life. It’s amazing. It’s wonderful being 70 and getting to do what I get to do at the level I want to do it.”

She’s having a blast on The Voice and Happy’s Place, she’s content with her music career, and she’s in love! What could be better?!

“I’ve never been loved by a man like Rex Linn,” she reveals. “Rex is a very tender-hearted man, and I just love him with all my heart. He’s a good guy. Real bashful though.”

She especially enjoys driving to work with him, talking about their day (even if they did spend it together on set!), and rehearse with him.

McEntire opens up about a new lesson she’s learned: “Quit living for tomorrow and for yesterday.”

Maybe that’s why the couple of five years finally went public with their engagement in September at the Emmys! We say finally because in the People article, it was revealed that Rex actually popped the question nine months prior, in December, shortly before they celebrated five years together as a couple

“We got engaged December the 24th, Christmas Eve at Leiper’s Fork,” McEntire told People in this week’s cover story.

She revealed they had plans to announce the exciting news to the world in January, but then the devastating wildfires in California took place and they felt it wouldn’t be appropriate.

McEntire added, “the time never presented itself until the Emmys when it just happened.”

She described the proposal as a “total surprise” that had “Rex Linn timing” and was “very romantic.”

They haven’t set a wedding date yet, but they are fully enjoying each other during this stage of their life. This will be Linn’s first marriage and McEntire’s third.
