Jelly Roll Wants To Pay It Forward In A Big Way

Multi-platinum artist Jelly Roll is using his past to inspire future change. The “Son Of A Sinner” singer speaks openly about the struggles of his youth and young adult years, which included drug use and incarceration.

In a recent vlog, the Tennessee native revealed that he plans to open a “100-acre rehabilitation campus” on his property. He adds that he plans to offer the services for free as a way to give back to those who do not have the means to get help.

Jelly Roll, born Jason DeFord, turned his life around after his daughter, Bailee, was born in 2008. Since then, he has gotten clean, gotten married, and built a thriving country music career. Additionally, he has transformed his physical health and has lost more than 200lbs.

In October 2024, Jelly Roll purchased a 500-acre property in Tennessee with his wife, Bunnie Xo. He became emotional when he shared the news of the milestone with his fans and said:

“Generational curses were broken because of you all. I’m standing on it. I am standing here, breaking a generational curse right now. And I hope that inspires one of you all to do the same thing.

It is on this land that he plans to create a space where lives can be transformed. He envisions the future rehab center to have a traditional 12-step 28-day style program, as well as intensive programs for therapy and mental health.

Better than guest speakers, Jelly Roll hopes to invite guest weekenders, those who have overcome addiction and want to give back, to “leave the phone and get in the trenches” with the residents.

Turning Pain Into Purpose

The musician regularly uses his platform and the resources that come with it to make a difference in the lives of others. Last year, he spoke to the U.S. Senate about the fentanyl crisis and urged them to take action.

Recently, he partnered with the Grand Ole Opry to raise funds for the JDEC, which provides vocational training to adolescents in Tennessee “who might be at risk or engaged with the juvenile or criminal justice system.”

Jelly Roll has not shared a timeline or additional details of the future rehab center. Stay tuned for updates.
