LDT “Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings Nominated for 2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame”

Canadian rock icons Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings—best known for their era-defining hits with The Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive—have been officially nominated for induction into the 2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame (SHOF).

The SHOF announced its complete slate of nominees for the upcoming 2026 Induction & Awards Gala, which will take place in New York City next year. The ballot features a diverse group of music creators spanning genres and generations, including Taylor Swift, Kenny Loggins, LL Cool J, Sarah McLachlan, David Byrne, and others.

Bachman and Cummings, whose partnership produced timeless classics such as “American Woman,” “These Eyes,” and “No Time,” are being recognized in the Performing Songwriters category. Their work helped define the sound of 1970s rock, blending sharp lyricism with memorable melodies that continue to resonate across decades.

According to the Songwriters Hall of Fame, nominees are eligible once their body of work has been commercially available for at least 20 years and has made a significant impact on music culture. Eligible members will cast their votes through December 4, 2025, with the final inductees announced early next year.

Founded in 1969, the Songwriters Hall of Fame honors composers and lyricists who have enriched the world’s cultural heritage through song. Inductees are celebrated at an annual gala that brings together many of the most respected figures in the industry.

For Bachman and Cummings—long regarded as pillars of Canadian rock—the nomination stands as recognition of their songwriting legacy and enduring influence on global music.
