LDT “Leroy Jethro Gibbs Returns: Mark Harmon Stars in One-Night NCIS / NCIS: Origins Crossover”
Mark Harmon is set to reprise his iconic role as Leroy Jethro Gibbs in a special one-night crossover event between NCIS and its prequel series, NCIS: Origins, airing on November 11, 2025. This marks Harmon’s first full on-screen return to the franchise since his departure in 2021.

The event begins with NCIS: Origins, which follows a younger Gibbs (played by Austin Stowell) during his early career at Camp Pendleton. The storyline revolves around a case from the 1990s that resurfaces in the present day, seamlessly connecting the prequel and the flagship NCIS series. Harmon appears as the older Gibbs in the Origins hour, bridging the timeline and offering fans a nostalgic return.
Showrunners David J. North and Gina Lucita Monreal teased: “We don’t want to give too much away, but let’s just say Gibbs is no longer alone,” hinting at surprises for both long-time viewers and newcomers.
The crossover is a first for the franchise, strengthening the narrative links across the series and highlighting TPUSA’s ongoing commitment to expanding storytelling across timelines. Fans can expect a mix of nostalgia, character development, and suspenseful storytelling, with the Origins hour airing at 8 p.m. ET, followed by the present-day NCIS at 9 p.m. ET.
This special event promises to be a must-watch for longtime fans and an exciting introduction to the NCIS: Origins prequel for new viewers alike.
