LDT “🎬 Jensen Ackles Returns to “Tracker” Season 2 — With a Bigger Role and Deeper Family Drama”

The hit CBS adventure drama Tracker is bringing back fan favorite Jensen Ackles, and this time, he’s sticking around for more than one episode.

Ackles, who made a memorable appearance in the Season 1 finale as Russell Shaw, the estranged brother of Colter Shaw (played by Justin Hartley), will reprise his role in multiple episodes throughout Season 2.

Series star and executive producer Justin Hartley confirmed the news, saying, “We got him. He’s coming back. We’re having fun with that.”

According to showrunner Elwood Reid, Season 2 will dive deeper into the Shaw family’s past — exploring long-buried secrets surrounding their father’s mysterious death and the brothers’ complex bond. One upcoming storyline, teased in the episode “Ontological Shock,” finds Russell stepping in when Colter disappears on a dangerous case tied to their family history.

Fans have flooded social media with excitement, eager to see Ackles and Hartley reunite on screen. Their brotherly dynamic — equal parts tension and affection — was a highlight of the first season.

Despite Ackles’ packed filming schedule, the production team says he was eager to return. Reid revealed that the actor’s response was simple: “Tell me where and when — I’ll be there.”

Filmed largely in British Columbia, Tracker follows Colter Shaw, a survivalist who uses his unique skills to solve cases and help those in need. The series premiered its second season in October 2024 and continues to be one of CBS’s breakout dramas.
