LDT “Jensen Ackles Could Get His Own ‘Tracker’ Spinoff — Producer Says Talks Are Underway”
Fans of Jensen Ackles may soon see more of him on their screens. Tracker executive producer Elwood Reid has revealed that there are early discussions about developing a potential spinoff centered on Ackles’ character, Russell Shaw, who was introduced as the estranged brother of series lead Colter Shaw, played by Justin Hartley.
In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Reid shared that he has been “tossing around ideas” for expanding Russell’s story beyond the main show. While no official plans have been confirmed, the producer admitted that he’s included several “teases” about Russell in upcoming episodes to gauge audience reaction and spark interest.

Reid praised the on-screen chemistry between Ackles and Hartley, calling their performances “a perfect balance of tension and family connection.” He also expressed his enthusiasm for continuing to collaborate with Ackles, saying he’d “always find room for Jensen whenever he’s available.”
At this time, CBS has not made any announcements about greenlighting a spinoff. However, given Ackles’ strong fanbase and the excitement surrounding his guest role, insiders believe the concept could gain traction quickly if the response remains positive.
Ackles, who is currently involved in The Boys universe through its spinoff Gen V, has long been a favorite among viewers for his mix of charm and intensity. His Tracker appearance has reignited that enthusiasm, with many fans already campaigning online for a full-fledged series featuring his character.
For now, Reid says the focus remains on Tracker’s upcoming episodes, which will continue to explore the Shaw brothers’ complicated history — and perhaps, lay the groundwork for something bigger to come.
