LDT “Erika Kirk Shares Tender Moment With Daughter After Charlie’s Passing: “He’s on a Work Trip With Jesus””
Weeks after the devastating loss of her husband, Charlie Kirk, Erika Kirk is opening up about the painful yet tender conversations she’s been having with their two young children. Speaking publicly for the first time since his death, Erika revealed how she’s finding the strength to help her kids understand a reality no child should have to face.

Their 3-year-old daughter, still too young to fully grasp what happened, recently asked her mother the heartbreaking question, “Where’s Daddy?” Erika recalled the moment with tears in her eyes. “What do you tell a 3-year-old?” she said softly. “I told her, ‘Baby, Daddy loves you so much. He’s on a work trip with Jesus.’”
She went on to share that her daughter often looks up to the sky and talks to her father — something Erika encourages. “I tell her, ‘If you ever want to talk to Daddy, just look up and start talking. He can hear you.’”
As for their infant son, born just months before Charlie’s death, Erika acknowledged that his memories of his father will come through stories, photos, and the lessons she plans to carry forward. “He won’t remember the sound of Charlie’s voice,” she said, “but he’ll grow up knowing the kind of man his father was.”
Despite her grief, Erika is trying to remain strong for her children. Balancing sleepless nights, single parenthood, and newfound public attention, she’s found solace in faith and community. “There’s no manual for this,” she shared. “But I know Charlie would want me to lead with love and courage — for our kids, and for the mission we built together.”
