They moved away… and left behind the only soul that would’ve never left them.
When rescuers arrived, the little one didn’t bark, didn’t move —
just looked up with eyes that asked a question no one should ever have to ask:
“Why wasn’t I enough to be taken along?”
The floor was cold, the walls broken,
but what hurt most wasn’t hunger or loneliness —
it was heartbreak.
Even after being abandoned,
this dog still wagged its tail when someone finally stopped to care.
Still believed that maybe, somewhere, kindness existed.
And it does.
Because now, this forgotten soul is learning to trust again —
to eat without fear, to sleep without shivering,
