“This is America’s house! Complete and utter desecration of a national monument. Shame on you! I’m alternating between rage and heartbreak for our beautiful historic White House,” reads one one-star review on Google Maps for Aceco LLC.
“Destroying ‘The People’s House’ with no regard for their permission. Deplorable act no matter the reason,” wrote another angry individual.
“The White House is a Historical Landmark. How is this legal?” wrote one.
“You should be ashamed of yourself! This hasn’t been approved by the people who own it,” wrote another.
“Collaborators,” another alleged.
“Stop tearing down America’s house!,” wrote one person.
According to The Daily Beast, Aceco’s rating — which is crucial for drumming up future business — plummeted all the way to 1.8 stars until Google revised it to 4.1.
Images of the company destroying a substantial portion of the East Wing went viral yesterday, shocking Americans who had been assured by Trump that the work would not “interfere” with the existing White House structure. No matter what they do after this point, Aceco will be forever tarred as the company that ravaged a beloved symbol of American history and power.
The new 90,000-square-foot building will “nearly double the footprint of the main building and its East and West wings,” meaning that Trump’s stain will linger long after he departs — unless a future Democratic president decides to bulldoze the ballroom.
Trump has stated that he drummed up “donations” as high as $25 million from major companies like Apple, Amazon, and Lockheed Martin to pay for the project. If true, this amounts to blatant bribery. These companies are paying for the president’s vanity project to curry favor with him and extract favorable policy changes from his administration. The People’s House has become The Corporations’ House.
