Jordan Mailata Earns One of NFL’s Highest Honors as Eagles’ Walter Payton Man of the Year Nominee

Jordan Mailata is officially headed to Super Bowl week, no matter how the Eagles’ playoff chase unfolds. The veteran left tackle has been selected as Philadelphia’s Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year, placing him among 32 league-wide nominees for one of the most prestigious awards in professional sports.

Mailata will be honored during Super Bowl week in Santa Clara, with the national winner announced at NFL Honors on February 5. Only three Eagles have ever claimed the award: Chris Long (2018), Troy Vincent (2002), and Hall of Famer Harold Carmichael (1980).

Beginning in Week 14, Mailata will wear the special Walter Payton Man of the Year helmet decal, symbolizing both his on-field excellence and his deep commitment to the Philadelphia community.

“Jordan Mailata’s recognition as a Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year club winner is truly well deserved and speaks to his profound impact, both on and off the field,” Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said. “We congratulate Jordan and thank him for always being a person of high character who leads with kindness, compassion, and integrity.”

Mailata’s journey to this stage has been defined by service. Since arriving in Philadelphia as a seventh-round pick in 2018, he has poured his time and energy into organizations across the region. His work with the Philadelphia Children’s Alliance, dating back to 2019, earned him and his wife, Niki, recognition at the 2025 Alliance Bear Affair.

Motivated by his mother-in-law’s victory over cancer, Mailata has also become an advocate for the American Association for Cancer Research, choosing AACR as his My Cause My Cleats charity to help elevate their mission.

His longstanding involvement with the Eagles Autism Foundation has created one of the franchise’s most meaningful off-field partnerships. His viral “Jeff Stoutland University” Sunday Night Football intro in 2022 sparked a fan movement that led to an apparel line raising over $200,000 for autism research and support initiatives.

For the Eagles, Mailata’s nomination is a celebration of character as much as performance. For Philadelphia, it is recognition of a player who represents the city with heart, humility, and unwavering dedication — a left tackle who has become part of the city’s identity.
