HEARTBREAKING: JFK’s Granddaughter Tatiana Schlossberg Reveals She Has One Year to Live After Devastating Leukemia Diagnosis

The world is reacting with shock and heartbreak after Tatiana Schlossberg, granddaughter of former President John F. Kennedy and daughter of Caroline Kennedy, revealed that doctors have told her she may have only one year left to live.

In an emotional and deeply personal essay published this week—coinciding with the 62nd anniversary of JFK’s assassination—the 34-year-old journalist and environmental author shared her painful journey with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), a fast-moving and aggressive cancer of the blood and bone marrow.

What should have been one of the happiest times of her life—welcoming her first child in 2024—quickly transformed into a nightmare.

A Joyous Birth, Followed by Life-Shattering News

Schlossberg explains that she began feeling unusually weak after giving birth. At first, she assumed it was a normal part of postpartum recovery. But routine lab work showed alarming abnormalities. Within days, she was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with AML, a cancer that often requires immediate and intensive treatment.

“Everything changed in a single conversation,” she wrote. “My son had barely opened his eyes to the world when I had to confront the possibility that I might not be here to watch him grow.”

Despite cycles of chemotherapy and months of treatment, recent scans delivered the worst possible news: her cancer is advancing. Doctors told her she “maybe” has about a year left.

A Young Mother Confronting Mortality

Now facing limited time, Schlossberg says her days have become a mixture of gratitude and grief — savoring moments with her baby while mourning the milestones she may never experience.

She writes about the ache of imagining her son’s future birthdays, first days of school, and life moments she may not live to witness:

“My body is failing me, but my heart breaks most because I am a mother. I wanted to protect him from everything, not become the reason for his first sorrow.”

Family friends say she has shown “remarkable grace and clarity” despite the unimaginable emotional burden she is carrying.
