NXT A rare rescue: Orphaned Walrus Calf finds Comfort & Care at Alaska SeaLife Center!

On Alaska’s remote North Slope, oil workers discovered a lone Pacific walrus calf stranded far from the sea. Orphaned and too young to survive, he was rushed to the Alaska SeaLife Center for emergency care. Because walrus calves rely on constant touch from their mothers, staff provided 24-hour “cuddle therapy,” comforting him with warmth and gentle contact. His health steadily improved, eating well, gaining strength, and bonding with caregivers. Though his future is uncertain, his rescue shows how compassion can keep life alive even in the harshest places.
