SAT . White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt Discussed Her “Unusual” Relationship With Her 60-Year-Old Husband
Hey, did you know that Karoline Leavitt is only 28 years old? It’s fairly young to be married at all, let alone to a 60-year-old.
The White House Press Secretary tied the knot with real estate developer Nicholas Riccio this January after welcoming their son, also called Nicholas, last summer. Last month, she made headlines over suspicion that she’d *significantly* Facetuned her Halloween photo with her husband, but that’s neither here nor there.
Karoline recently sat down on the Pod Force One podcast and discussed her “unusual” 32-year age gap relationship. Host Miranda Devine kicked things off by asking, “Could you not find boys your own age who are as mature?”
“Honestly, no,” Karoline replied, affirming that they met while she was running for Congress in 2022. “He is amazing. And we met during my congressional campaign. A friend of mine who owns a restaurant is also a mutual friend of my husband’s, and he invited my husband to my event at his restaurant, and we met. We were acquainted as friends for quite some time, but then of course we fell in love.”
When asked about her parents’ reaction to dating someone around the same age as them, Karoline said, “It’s definitely a challenging conversation to have at first, but then once they got to know him and saw who he is as a man and his character and how much he adores me, I think it became quite easy for them. And now, we’re all friends. I mean, it’s a typical family relationship. And my husband has such respect for my parents and the way that they raised me. We all have a lot of fun together when they come to visit.”
Calling Nicholas an “incredibly hands-on father,” Karoline further discussed the “very challenging” life of a working mother. In fact, Karoline will bring her son to the office, where he’s met Trump: “[They’ve met] on many occasions. The president’s very kind. He’s very good with children. He likes children. I think he’s fascinated by them and he’s very cute with them. He’s always very nice to my son.”
