LDT “NFL Hall of Famer Favre Pushes Jason Aldean as “Patriotic” Alternative to Bad Bunny for Super Bowl Halftime Show”
NFL Hall of Famer Brett Favre is adding fuel to the growing culture-war debate surrounding the Super Bowl LX halftime show, publicly urging the league to choose country star Jason Aldean over confirmed headliner Bad Bunny.
During a recent episode of his 4th & Favre podcast, the former Green Bay Packers quarterback said he would prefer a performer “who loves this country … someone everyone could relate to.” Favre singled out Aldean as his top pick, calling him “as big a patriot as anybody” and praising his voice and fan appeal. He also mentioned George Strait as another ideal option.

Favre’s remarks arrive amid a wave of conservative criticism directed at the NFL after announcing Bad Bunny as the 2026 halftime performer. Detractors have focused on the rapper’s previous political comments, arguing that the league should instead spotlight an artist who represents “traditional American values.”
A related petition demanding Strait replace Bad Bunny has gathered more than 110,000 signatures.
Favre referenced Whitney Houston’s iconic national-anthem performance at Super Bowl XXV as the type of patriotic moment he believes the event should strive for.
NFL Pushes Back Against Calls for Change
Despite the uproar, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has made it clear the league will not reconsider its decision. Speaking after the fall owners meeting, Goodell said the halftime selection was “carefully thought through” and that controversy “comes with the territory” every year.
Goodell reaffirmed that Bad Bunny will remain the headliner, praising the global superstar’s understanding of the Super Bowl’s massive international platform.
Where Things Stand
- Favre supports Jason Aldean or George Strait as alternatives.
- Conservative backlash continues online and through petitions.
