LDT “Michael Jackson Becomes First Artist to Earn Top 10 Hits in Six Different Decades”

Michael Jackson has set a new benchmark in music history, becoming the first artist ever to score a Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 hit across six consecutive decades, according to reporting from outlets including Hypebeast, Yahoo Entertainment, and Parade (attributing original Billboard and Luminate chart data).

The milestone was achieved after Jackson’s signature track “Thriller” surged back into the Top 10, landing at No. 10 following a major spike in seasonal streams around Halloween. Luminate, the data provider behind the Billboard charts, reported the song earned roughly 14 million U.S. streams during the tracking week that pushed it back onto the chart.

Jackson’s achievement places him in unprecedented territory. He now holds Top 10 hits in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s—surpassing the previous record set by crooner Andy Williams, who logged Top 10 songs in five decades.

The King of Pop first reached the Top 10 as a solo artist with “Got to Be There” in 1971. Over the course of his career, Jackson earned 30 Top 10 singles and 13 No. 1 hits, cementing his status as one of the most influential artists in modern music.

The renewed momentum surrounding “Thriller” also arrives as anticipation builds for the upcoming biographical film Michael, directed by Antoine Fuqua and slated for release on April 24, 2026, according to India Today.

Jackson’s latest chart triumph underscores the enduring cultural impact of his catalog—proof that even decades later, his music continues to resonate with listeners around the world.
