LDT “Students Stage Peaceful Protest Against Turning Point USA Event at Auburn University”

Auburn, AL — On November 5, 2025, students and local community members gathered in a peaceful protest outside Neville Arena, opposing a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) event hosted on Auburn University’s campus. Protesters assembled at 5 p.m. near the intersection of Thach Concourse and South Donahue, ahead of the TPUSA event that began at 6:30 p.m.

The demonstrators, unaffiliated with any official student organizations, voiced frustration over Auburn University’s perceived lack of attention to minority issues. Many protesters emphasized the university’s “Auburn Family” ethos, chanting slogans such as, “Auburn Family, remember your humanity” and holding signs questioning, “What happened to the Auburn Family?”

Faith Fluker, a communications senior at Auburn, said the event felt particularly hurtful in light of recent campus controversies, including the termination of students over posts about TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk and a racial slur incident earlier this year. “We are continuously losing things, and it feels like the safe space for us is continuously getting smaller,” Fluker stated. “If we keep losing these safe spaces, we’re just going to get louder.”

As protesters marched through Auburn streets, they chanted phrases such as, “Love not hate, makes America great,” and “No hate, no fear, everyone is welcome here,” while also directing chants at TPUSA, including, “Turning Point, turn around!” Some attendees in line for the TPUSA event engaged verbally with the protesters, but no physical confrontations occurred.

The protest concluded at Toomer’s Corner, where demonstrators joined an ongoing sit-in that has been active since 2020 in response to racial injustice. Passersby showed mixed reactions, some cheering and honking in support, others expressing opposition.

Despite differing opinions, the protest remained peaceful throughout, highlighting ongoing campus tensions surrounding political events and debates over diversity and inclusion.
