In a recent statement, Angelina Jolie – the famous actress, director and goodwill ambassador of the United Nations – moved the public when she revealed plans to build a large-scale SOS village for orphans. The goal of the project is to create a safe, healthy environment where children are cared for, learn and develop comprehensively like in a real family.
According to Jolie, the project, tentatively named “Hope Village”, will be built in a developing country where many children have lost their parents due to war, poverty or natural disasters. The village will include housing, schools, health facilities, playgrounds and vocational training centres, all designed to be environmentally friendly and suitable for children’s developmental needs.
“Every child deserves to live in love and safety. I want to build a place where children are not only nurtured, but also given the opportunity to dream and become the best version of themselves,”

Jolie said she is working with SOS Children’s Villages International and many humanitarian funds and philanthropists around the world to make this project a reality. The first phase of the project is expected to start next year, with support from experts in education, health and child psychology.
More than just a cinema icon, Angelina Jolie has long been known as one of Hollywood’s most dedicated stars to humanitarian activities. She has adopted six children, many of whom come from underprivileged parts of the world, and regularly participates in campaigns to support refugees, women and children.
With the “Hope Village” project, Jolie once again affirms the great humanitarian mission she has pursued for more than two decades – bringing hope, a home and a better future to forgotten children.
