LDN. Alvin Bragg, Who Prosecuted Trump, Wins Re-Election as Manhattan DA. LDN

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who led the historic prosecution of President Donald Trump, has won re-election, securing another term as the city’s top prosecutor.
The Associated Press projected Bragg’s victory Tuesday night, with the Democrat earning roughly 74% of the vote in the overwhelmingly blue borough.
Bragg defeated Republican nominee Maud Maron and independent candidate Diana Florence, both of whom criticized his approach to criminal justice.
Despite those critiques, and a first term defined by headlines, political pressure, and national scrutiny, Bragg’s re-election was widely expected.
Bragg rose to national attention as the prosecutor who brought, and won, the first-ever criminal conviction of a former U.S. president.
The case centered on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, tied to a scheme to hide damaging information during the 2016 presidential campaign, including hush-money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
The trial concluded on May 30, 2024, with a jury finding Trump guilty.
Bragg, a former federal prosecutor and Harlem native, has long framed his approach as both tough and equitable, insisting that “safety and fairness are not mutually exclusive.”
