BB.$15M NFC East Heist: Cowboys Poised to Snatch Eagles’ Star WR in Blockbuster Trade, Turning Philly’s Nightmare into Dallas’ Dynasty Dream!

The Dallas Cowboys’ running back room suffered a significant blow with Miles Sanders ruled out for the season, exposing a clear lack of depth behind the emergent Javonte Williams. While Williams has solidified himself as the team’s RB1, ranking fourth in the NFL in rushing yards, the options behind him—rookie Jaydon Blue and Hunter Luepke—leave the Cowboys in need of a more reliable backup.

A surprising opportunity has now emerged following the Philadelphia Eagles’ decision to release running back Audric Estimé from their practice squad on October 14th. This could represent the low-risk, strategic move Dallas has been searching for.

Audric Estimé is a familiar name to draft enthusiasts. Selected by the Denver Broncos in the fifth round (147th overall) of the 2024 draft, the running back posted a respectable rookie campaign with 76 carries for 310 yards and two touchdowns. His true potential was showcased during his collegiate career at Notre Dame, where he exploded for 1,341 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns in the 2023 season, averaging an impressive 6.4 yards per carry.

Possessing the ideal build for an NFL running back (5-foot-11, 227 pounds), Estimé is evaluated as a powerful “workhorse” with surprising agility. NFL.com’s draft analyst Lance Zierlein previously noted about him: “He’s naturally powerful with adequate foot agility… Estimé can make reactive cuts to sudden tacklers near the line of scrimmage… He could check into the league as part of a two-headed running attack with the ability to shine near the goal line.”

Estimé’s strengths extend beyond his ball-carrying ability. He is also a solid pass blocker, a crucial trait in Head Coach Mike McCarthy’s system. His physicality and knack for finishing runs through contact would be a valuable asset to the Cowboys’ offensive scheme.

Most importantly, this move presents almost zero financial risk for the Cowboys. Estimé is currently a free agent and would likely command nothing more than the league minimum salary. If he fails to make an impact, Dallas can part ways with no significant penalty. Conversely, if he rediscovers his form, they could secure a long-term contributor at a premium position for a minimal investment.

Signing Estimé isn’t a blockbuster move, but it is a smart and practical one. He would provide the necessary support to give Williams proper rest while adding another potential offensive weapon to the Cowboys’ already potent arsenal. In the brutal race for the NFC East, it’s often these calculated, minor adjustments that make the major difference.
