dx Back in My Shania Twain Era: The Summer of Confidence, Country, and Comebacks

There are summers that slip quietly through your fingers, and then there are summers that demand a soundtrack—loud, unapologetic, and filled with joy. For me, there’s only one artist who can turn even the most ordinary day into something extraordinary: Shania Twain.

The Summer That Shania Built

I’ve always called myself a “summer person.” Maybe it’s because I grew up chasing fireflies in the humid evenings or because I feel most alive when the sun burns long into the night. But lately, adulthood has blurred that magic. Instead of chasing joy, I’ve found myself drowning in the annoyances—sand in the sheets, fruit flies in the kitchen, electricity bills that make me want to cry.

And yet, every time I feel the weight of it, I know the cure. It’s not a vacation to Europe or a five-star beach resort—it’s rolling the windows down, turning up Shania Twain’s “Any Man of Mine”, and letting the whole world remember that fun doesn’t have an age limit.

Shania at 60—Timeless as Ever

This summer feels even more special because Shania Twain herself just turned 60 years old on August 28, 2025. Sixty! And yet, when I press play on “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” or “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?”, time collapses. We’re all suddenly twenty-three again, sun-kissed, free, and unstoppable.

Shania’s music isn’t just country—it’s a recipe for joy. It’s road trips with friends, it’s line dancing your heartbreak away, it’s turning an ordinary Tuesday afternoon into a full-on celebration. Whether you’re blasting “That Don’t Impress Me Much” at karaoke or singing “Party for Two” from the driver’s seat of a beat-up Honda, she reminds us to laugh, to let go, and to live.

Texas Memories, California Dreams

I wasn’t always a country fan. That didn’t come until I moved to Texas in 2021, where Shania became the heartbeat of my nights out and my long, aimless drives. Two-stepping at The White Horse in Austin, belting “If You Wanna Touch Her, Ask!” at karaoke, or just racing down I-35 with the wind in my hair—Shania was there for every memory.

Now, living in Los Angeles, I still miss Texas summers—the thrill before the scorching heat hits—but California has its own perks. Just ninety minutes from the Pacific, I’ve learned that the ocean breeze and Shania Twain blasting on Spotify make for the perfect therapy.

Living in the Now

So today, in honor of her birthday, I’m doing it the Shania way. My bikini is drying over the bathroom door, a late-August peach is in my hand, and “Party for Two” is playing so loud the neighbors could join in.

Because at the end of the day, Shania Twain taught us something simple and profound: you don’t need perfection to have joy. You just need a song, a little sunlight, and the courage to live right here, right now.

This summer—and every summer—I’ll keep pressing play. Because every summer deserves to be a Shania Twain Summer.
