SD. Obama takes aim at Trump in Virginia get-out-the-vote event for Spanberger

đ„ Obama Blasts Trump in Virginia Rally â âEvery Day is Halloween, All Tricks, No Treatsâ đđșđž
NORFOLK, VA â Former President Barack Obama didnât hold back on Saturday, lambasting his successor Donald Trump in a fiery rally aimed at boosting voter support for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger.
âWeâve got a president who thinks itâs OK to use the Justice Department to go after his political opponents,â Obama declared to a jeering audience at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.
With early voting ending in Virginia the same day, Obama quipped:
âDonât boo, vote.â
The former president painted a stark picture of Trumpâs tenure:
âWeâve got a commander-in-chief who fires decorated officers because he thinks they might be more loyal to the Constitution than to him. Itâs like every day is Halloween, except itâs all tricks and no treats.â
Much of the speech focused on Trumpâs actions that Obama claims are eroding democracy â from deploying the National Guard in Democratic-led cities to slashing the federal workforce.
Spanberger, energized by Obamaâs endorsement, told the crowd:
âOn Tuesday, we are going to send a message. Virginia is turning the page.â
The rally drew a mix of seasoned voters and first-timers, many of whom admitted Obamaâs presence was their main motivation to attend.
âIâm voting for her, my full support. And obviously Obama. I love Obama, so I just want to see him,â said 18-year-old Zoe Martin of Virginia Beach.
Organizers even guided attendees to nearby early-voting sites, ensuring turnout remained high â a move that underscores how critical Democrats view Virginia ahead of Election Day.
With just three days left, the race for Virginiaâs governorâs mansion is heating up, and Obamaâs rally may give Spanberger the boost she needs to flip the state blue.
