Model and entrepreneur Hailey Bieber has been widely praised for her “iconic response” to trolls who question whether she is transgender.
On 24 October, the 28-year-old skincare brand owner, who is the wife of pop star Justin Bieber, was speaking with Overcompensating actor Owen Theile on his podcast In Your Dreams when she made a joke about looking like she had a penis.
Bieber moved a pillow behind her, suggesting that it had made her jeans gather in the crotch area, giving the illusion that she had a penis.
After Thiele joked she was “hard” Bieber retorted: “The rumours are true.”
Thiele then questioned Bieber on whether she was serious that people believe that she has male genitalia.
Bieber then revealed that she has to deal with “trolling” comments from “mean” internet users who question whether she is trans.
“People are trying to be mean,” she explained. “They’re like, ‘She looks trans’. And I’m like, why do you think that’s a diss?”
“As if being trans is a diss? Some of the most beautiful women and men in the world are trans. So I just don’t take that offensively at all,” she added.
The mother-of-one, who married Justin Bieber back in 2018, has been hailed for her sensitive response to the trolls’ remarks.

“Wait, that has to be the best answer any celeb has ever given,” one internet user wrote.
“The energy we NEED. Protect the dolls for real,” wrote a second, as a third simply dubbed Bieber’s response as “iconic”.

Another social media user wrote: “This is me, granting credit where it’s due. Fantastic take. 10/10. No notes.”
It appears that Hailey Bieber might have taken a leaf out of Lady Gaga’s book.
Back in 2009, the “Paparazzi” singer was hit with rumours that she had a penis and had been assigned male at birth.
She was grilled by American broadcaster Anderson Cooper on whether there was any truth to the rumour, and she decided not to give the trolls any response to work with.
“Maybe I do. Would it be so terrible?” she told American broadcaster Anderson Cooper.
“Why the hell am I going to waste my time and give a press release about whether or not I have a penis? My fans don’t care, and neither do I.”
