On September 28, musician Bad Bunny was officially announced as the Super Bowl LX halftime performer. 

Bad Bunny is a rapper, singer, and producer from Puerto Rico, who has been dubbed the “King of Latin Trap,” and considered one of the best latin rappers of all time. He’s also had roles in the films F9Bullet TrainCassandro, and Caught Stealing

Many people were not pleased with the NFL’s decision and multiple petitions have been launched seeking to replace Bad Bunny with country music legend George Strait.

One petition starter, Kar Shell, said that he believed the halftime show “should unite our country, honor American culture, and remain family-friendly, not be turned into a political stunt.”

Turning Point USA, which was founded by Charlie Kirk, also announced in October that it will be hosting the All American Halftime Show during the Super Bowl in protest against the decision.

The announcement of the All American Halftime Show noted that it will be “celebrating faith, family, and freedom.”

Super Bowl LX will be held on February 8, 2026.

Former NFL Player Brett Favre Calls For A Country Singer To Perform At The Super Bowl

Pro Football Hall of Famer and vocal Donald Trump supporter Brett Favre expressed his choice for the halftime performance, and he’s favoring “patriotic” country singers.

During a recent episode on his podcast “4th and Favre”, the former NFL player suggested Jason Aldean step in and perform for the nation’s most viewed sporting event.

“You know, someone who loves this country and that everyone can relate to. I think Jason Aldean right now is as big a patriot and has a great voice,” Favre said.

Favre also voiced support for George Strait as a potential halftime show performer.

“He may be like, ‘I ain’t doing that,’ even if they ask,” Favre said of Strait. “But I don’t know how many No. 1s he’s had, but good lord. It’s enormous. I don’t think he’s ever done it, but that would be a pretty cool act to watch.”
