3S.Rookie Steals the Spotlight! Steelers HC Mike Tomlin hands Kyle Dugger the game ball in his very first game!

It was a whirlwind week for the Pittsburgh Steelers secondary. In the same week, the Steelers placed starting safety DeShon Elliott on IR, traded for Kyle Dugger, and then ruled out Chuck Clark and Jabrill Peppers for this week’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.
All this activity pressed Dugger into the starting lineup on Sunday despite only having four practices with the team. Dugger joined Jalen Ramsey as the starting safeties, with Ramsey moving over from cornerback. Despite a lack of reps with the team, Dugger stepped up and had himself a huge game finishing with four tackles and helping shut down the Colts elite offense.
After the game, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin gave serious props to Dugger for what he was able to do on short notice.
“I gave Kyle Dugger the game ball,” Tomlin said in his postgame press conference.
Dugger played well enough that former starter Juan Thornhill was relegated to the bench for the entire game.Need a news break?
